No more compulsory foreign languages in British secondary schools?

Are we about to make ourselves the laughing stock of the world? Is learning a language really so difficult? Other people manage it, don’t they? So why shouldn’t we? Will the intitiative of providing entitlement in primary schools produce a nation of able foregin language speakers who wouldn’t dream of giving up at fourteen? Or will this just be lip-service?
